Frequent Questions

General Questions

What is a Memvio?

A Memvio is a custom memory video and/or scrapbook celebrating special life experiences: from birth announcements to memorials and every occasion in-between. Our lives are filled with very special moments that become our memories and these memories will live on forever with your customized Memvio.  “…as time moves in one direction, memories move in another”.

Your Memvio celebrates your life: Weddings, Children, Birthday’s, Vacations, Anniversaries, Family Reunions, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Holidays, Religious Celebrations, Sports Events, School Events, Art Events, Your Year(s) In Review, Retirement, Memorials – every occasion is a Memvio Celebration!

What pictures are best to send for picture videos and/or scrapbooking? What’s the best way to organize my photos? Where do I begin? I have such a mess –my photos are so disorganized.

These are very important questions and at times the answers can seem a bit overwhelming. Memvio is committed to helping you tackle this endeavor.

 Here’s a few suggestions

#1) COME UP WITH A PLAN

Coming up with a game plan is very important. It’s time to think about how you want to organize your photos. Consider: organize by year, event, person, hobby, and/or location. For example, you may want to keep all of the pictures of each family member separated into groups, or you might want to mix everyone up but keep photos in order of event. Chronology, theme, person—what’s important to you? What strategy do you think makes sense? Deciding this first, is important— and will dictate the ease of the process.

You can combine two methods. For example, you could first get photos of each family member separated, then organize family members by the year the photos were taken, or you can organize chronologically and then by event and/or people. The more organizational steps you take the happier you will be with the outcome.

#2) IT’S TIME TO GET YOUR PHOTOS ORGANIZED

Start utilizing the organizational method you’ve chosen from above and GET STARTED! You’ll have fun sorting through your precious photos. Seeing how your family and friends have changed over the years is bound to be emotional and gratifying.

Make sure you stay consistent in your organizational method that you’ve chosen! If you decide to organize chronologically, stick with it! Getting off course will be frustrating— you will feel like you are not accomplishing anything and your photos will be just as disorganized as when you started. Take your time—step by step and eventually you will achieve your goal—your precious photos will be ready for Memvio!

Use zip lock baggies or photo envelopes to separate your photos by your chosen categories. Add a sticky note to the back of each print (describing who, what, when, where—any information that will help us create perfection and journal what’s important), some choose to write a description on back —if you choose this method (it could be riskier, for possible indentations could appear on photo side, pencil is best if you choose this method). If you choose this option, you understand the risk.

Be sure to make mention of your “favorites”, your most “precious” (special) photos —so we make sure we have a prominent spot for them.

We always encourage you to do some journaling in your own handwriting—-someday your handwriting becomes an heirloom.

#3) WHEN SENDING YOUR PHOTOS TO MEMVIO,

Send both portrait (tall) and landscape (wide) photos for more of a variety of slides for picture videos and scrapbook layout options, (all landscape photos –for example can get a bit monotonous).

Send numerous photos of same event, not just the best photo of an event. When scrapbooking, it’s important to have two— side by side, 12” x 12” pages coordinate with each other. Sometimes, this could take 8-20 photos of the same event/celebration to make some great looking layouts. The same works for creative picture video slides, some slides can use 20+ photos.

The best photos to send?

Any event, occasion or people that are important to you, —are important for us to celebrate for you. What memories are special to you is personal and unique to you. Just help us understand what’s important and we’ll work our magic.

How to organize digital photos?
  1. Make digital folders: name the folders by date and theme, (i.e.: christmas 2016, grandpa 80th b-day 1980).
  2. Name each photo. Photos in digital format —you can’t add a sticky note or write on the back of the photo, needs to be re-named.

    a) Choose a few words to describe each photo. —describing the photo, is the best way to make sure we know who and/or what the picture represents.

How to rename a photo: right click on each photo, find option “rename”, click on, rename, the current photo name will be highlighted—start typing the new name —and the current/old name will delete.

New names can be as long as you like. But it’s best to try to make the names, short and sweet, to the point—

    b) Keep in mind, all photos in each folder have to have a unique name, so if the photo represents the same person or event, assigning a different number to each photo allows for the same description — i.e., jack 2nd bday 01, jack 2nd bday 02, jack 2nd b-day 03, or bridesmaid carol 01, bridesmaid carol 02, bridesmaid nancy 01, maid of honor meagan 01, maid of honor meagan 02,

    c) The description/name of the photo provides us the information we need and forever gives you and future generations a “who’s who” look into the photo. Be sure to make mention of your “favorites”, your more “precious” (special) photos —so to make sure we have a prominent spot for them.
We always encourage you to do some journaling in your own handwriting—-someday your handwriting becomes an heirloom.

3. VERY IMPORTANT. Send “un-cropped” photos. Often people crop photos to upload onto social media sites. These cropped photos prove to be difficult (sometimes, even impossible) for us to print and often times creates problems for slide placement as well.

We will do the necessary cropping. FYI: Pictures are not “taken” in the shape of a square. When you are uploading/sending photos to Memvio and you notice —they are in the shape of a square verses a 4×6 or 5×7—try to search out the original (especially if it’s a special/important photo)

Doing the above suggestions, you will be giving us the information wanted to create the most amazing scrapbooks and picture videos for you — and you will save money in organizational fees.

However, if you don’t want to do all of the above, but you do want your photos scrapbooked or put into video production —you always have the choice of having our “No Time, No Problem” services.

Do I have to sort and organize my pictures or can you do that for me?

We can do it all for you. Pay a $600.00 deposit and we’ll get started by drop-shipping a “kübox” (non-crushing protective media box) to your doorstep. You fill it with your precious media —old video, film, audio, photos, slides and negatives. Send any digital photos and modern video clips on a flash drive, CD, DVD or upload them onto your Memvio Dropbox Account —send it back to us and we’ll get to work.

Pick your “kübox size” —according to how much media you are sending. Our kübox pricing is based on the size of box you choose and/or need and includes drop-shipment to your doorstep. For your convenience, the cost of your kübox and the cost for drop-shipment of your kübox to your door will be deducted from your original $600 deposit.

What is a kübox? Küboxs are specialty boxes made for transporting very valuable, precious and potentially heavy items safely —with up to 150 pounds allowed inside, and the strength to resist over 5,000 lbs on top. In our opinion, your precious, irreplaceable media will be as safe as possible during shipment. Also, your kübox can serve as a forever “safe home” for your returned original media.

After filling your “kübox” ship it back to us insured, signature required and tracking information to the following address:

Memvio ship it back to us insured, signature required and tracking information to the following address:

Memvio
14532 Manchester Rd
Winchester, MO 63011

“kübox” sizes and pricing

Another option is for you to find a box (non-crushing strength is advised) pack your media safely and send to us to the above address. Please send all materials using a tracking number and insured. We only accept packages that require signatures. This is for your peace of mind and ours.

If you have requested rush service, be sure you’ve scheduled your “spot” in our queue and be sure to send overnight. We charge $30.00 per half hour to sort through it all. The average time spent sorting through boxes of material is between 2-8 hours (anticipation of more than 6 hours will warrant a phone call prior to proceeding). We will then determine what we have to work with, contact you with a timeline, develop a plan on how you want to move forward, (i.e.: custom scrapbooking, picture video production, digitization or all of the above) and then we’ll provide you with an estimate. Once we have a plan in place the balance of your original deposit will be credited towards the —now, 60% required deposit for all custom orders. If a partial credit of your initial deposit is owed due to plan pricing equaling less than original deposit –we will credit amount owed back to your original payment method.

We work with minimal information from you due to your time constraints, or pages and pages of details and stories you have accumulated. Telling your story and making your memvio everything you envision is what is important to us. We are very good at being able to put story lines together without a ton of information from you, we are also quite proficient in sorting important information from an abundance of media (newspaper articles, large pedigrees and family history’s). We will ask you to provide us with some guidance/guidelines —and then, whatever info you give us even if minimal we will use our creativity and experience to create an amazing Memvio for you.

What type of media do you record to?

We record to CD, DVD-R, and Blu-ray disks (with a small upcharge). The DVDs we use are high quality, 100-year archival premium DVD-R. These DVD-R discs are one of the most compatible and longest lasting DVDs available worldwide. The data written on the discs is permanent and compatible with more than 95% of the DVD players on the market.

Are DVDs the best medium for preserving my priceless media?

Yes. DVDs are less susceptible to environmental changes as opposed to other analog media available. DVDs do not degrade when you play them over and over. Numerous copies of the DVDs do not suffer a loss of clarity like other medias do.

Will the DVD you use be compatible with my DVD player?

You shouldn’t have a problem if your DVD player is newer than 2004. If your DVD player is older than 2004, you may want to consider getting a newer one or we can copy your data and your Memvio (photo video) onto a different format such as a flash drive, memory card (with a small upcharge). If you know of a certain type or brand of DVD that will be compatible with your DVD player you can provide us with the actual DVDs and we will upload to those DVDs.

Will the DVD-R disk play in my computer?

If your computer has a video DVD drive and proper DVD player software has been installed then yes, it should be compatible!

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and cash.

Will I know the full cost before placing my order?

Yes and no. With a “Life Story”, the full cost could get a bit complicated. We can provide costs to you one step at a time. First, the cost of sorting and organizing. Second, pricing of converting your media (if needed). Third, pricing of producing your Memvio (photo video and/or scrapbook).

For our specialized recurring “year-to-year” celebratory photo videos and/or scrapbooking, long term package pricing is agreed upon from the very beginning.

Will Memvio always keep a copy of my order in case I lose, damage or just want another copy?

We will keep a copy of your (picture video) order for at least 30 days. We suggest (for a minimal fee) having us upload your order onto a cloud type platform (of your choice) for permanent safe keeping. As for your custom-made scrapbook, we have no backup copies.

What do the following Initials stand for: DPI, PPI, JPEG, TIFF?

DPI: Dot’s Per Inch, a printer can print up to so many points per inch. The higher the value, the finer the print. 300dpi meets most requirements.

PPI: Pixel Per Inch, refers to the input resolution of a photograph.

JPEG: Joint Photographic Experts Group, (or Image File Format). JPEG is a popular image file format that is commonly used by digital cameras to store photos. This format also supports varying levels of compression.

TIFF: Tag Image File Format, TIFF files are larger than JPEG files but they retain the full quality of the image. They can be compressed or uncompressed, but the compression scheme is lossless, meaning that although the file gets smaller, no information is lost.

Do you offer different packages such as silver, gold and platinum?

No, we do not. We produce what would be considered by other companies a “platinum” package for “silver” pricing, (our competitor’s “platinum” packages do not compare to Memvio’s, “always so much more than platinum level masterpieces”), this goes for both picture videos and scrapbooking. We include elaborate special effects, transitions, backgrounds, layering, keyframing, titles and captions. We thoroughly enjoy creating “one-of-a-kind” Memvio’s. Our goal is for all of our clients to be very excited with every masterpiece we create. We cannot get excited with boring, so we expect neither can you, consequently, we don’t go there.

Why do you charge a deposit?

Memvio invests a lot of time, expense and expertise from moment one. We begin getting excited about your creation(s) as soon as we see your photos. Making you an emotional (happy) “wreck”, when you see your completed work of art—whether in a picture video or scrapbook, is our goal.

If we are sorting, organizing, fixing, digitizing, transferring your media we must charge at least a 60% deposit to “cover our backs”.

If you (we) are unsure of your total project costs in the beginning, we then require a $600 deposit to get started. Once we have a better idea of your total project costs, if 60% is greater than the $600 deposit you’ve paid, you will be expected to pay the difference before we begin producing your Memvio or provide any further Memvio services. If your $600 deposit ends up being greater than 60% we will call you with options.

Pricing for hourly sorting, organizing & figuring out what of your media is worthy of digitizing & transferring is $30.00 per half hour. YES, we get an awful lot accomplished every 30 minutes, but it is time consuming to “do it right”,

We charge per scan for each picture, negative and slide (all of these tasks take a lot of time and/or specialized equipment).

Please Note: All accounts must be paid in full prior to return shipping of any original media or your finalized Memvio DVDs or scrapbooks.

What if my photos aren’t in the best condition?

It’s not unusual for non-digital photos to be old, damaged, faded or worse. We provide basic photo corrections, basic cropping, “normal” red-eye removal and minor color correction with all images. Photos that are badly damaged with scratches or rips are charged, $18 per image for photo restoration. It is amazing what we can do to restore damaged photos. But, this process takes time and expertise to do it right.

Sometimes our customers want us to use a particular special photo(s) regardless of its condition and do not want to spend the money to damage correct the image. That is fine and at times, it adds to the authenticity of the era we are portraying. Other times, its highly recommended to damage correct on at least a handful of “special” images. We will inform you of our professional opinion on this matter and then ultimately, it’s your call.

Can “I” scan my non-digital photos?

Yes! If you have the time and desire, digitize as much of your materials as you can yourself. Most current (newer) printers have “decent” scanning capabilities. They aren’t the quality of our Digital Ice, high dpi output— scanning capability, but they are pretty good. The scanning should be done at a minimum resolution of 300dpi, 600 dpi is best for any enlargement capabilities for both picture videos and printing for scrapbooking. The best format is JPEG. We can work with other formats as well.

Are all of the pictures taken with my digital camera and/or phone compatible with Memvio?

Yes, they should be. Keep in mind, if you are sending images taken with your digital camera or phone it is best to set the image resolution (i.e.: file size) to at least medium. Resulting in better quality for both your picture video and scrapbook. Be sure to send “original sized” photos—NOT ones you’ve CROPPED for social media.

How should I send my materials?

Easy option — Have us drop-ship a “kübox” (non-crushing protective media box) to your doorstep. You fill it with your precious media (old video, film, audio, photos, slides and negatives, send any digital photos and modern video clips on a flash drive, CD, DVD or upload them onto your Memvio Dropbox Account) —send it back to us and we’ll get to work.

Pick your “kübox size” —according to how much media you are sending. Our kübox pricing is based on the size of box you choose and/or need and includes drop-shipment to your doorstep.

After filling your “kübox” ship it back to us insured, signature required and with tracking information to the following address:

“kübox” sizes and pricing

Another option is for you to find a box (non-crushing strength is advised) pack your media safely and send to us to the above address. Please send all materials using a tracking number and insured. We only accept packages that require signatures. This is for your peace of mind and ours.

If you have requested rush service, be sure you’ve scheduled your “spot” in our queue and be sure to send overnight.

Can I send other printed materials to include in the picture video and/or scrapbook?

Yes! If you have other “printed materials” you’d like included in your Memvio, we would be happy to include them. Some examples of printed materials others have used: invitations, birth announcements, diplomas, newspaper articles, artwork and licenses. If it’s printed, we can probably include it!

Do you take extra care with old pictures in a photo album?

Yes! You can send us the album and we will at ($30 per half hour) work diligently to get your old fragile photos safely out of your album and scan them. If we feel we cannot safely remove a particular photo from your album we will scan it while still in album, the quality won’t be as good, but if it’s an important photo, even low quality is better than no copy of it. You can always try to remove the photos from the album yourself and then send the photos safely to us.

What will happen to all of my original materials/media?

For picture videos; all original materials will be returned with your completed Memvio video. For scrapbooking; your original media will be returned in a scrapbooked format. Whatever original media we do not scrapbook will be returned separately.

My story is personal. Who will see my Memvio and materials?

Besides Memvio employees working on your Memvio and you, your family and friends, no-one. Once in a while we do ask a customer if we can use a Memvio or portions of a Memvio creation for advertising purposes. We will never show any part of your Memvio without your permission.

Do you have a contract/client agreement/terms of service?

Yes. Memvio strives to provide the most professional service to you as possible. A client agreement, contract and/or terms of service acceptance helps to communicate all expectations. (i.e.: all agreements help assure we are on the same page regarding all details such as pricing, timing, limitation of liability and delivery. You can preview a sample of the terms of service.

Do you have a satisfaction guarantee?

All customer orders are created with the utmost care and creativity. We will do all we can to make sure you are 100% satisfied hopefully thrilled! However, a monetary refund is not possible with memvio’s custom creations.

Can I get a refund if I decide I don’t like my Memvio?

Memvio will do everything we can to make you as happy as possible. In fact, we want you not only happy, but thrilled! However, due to extensive time, labor, expertise, expenses and supplies involved, Memvio does not offer refunds.

After shipment, if for some reason, you aren’t 100% satisfied with your Memvio scrapbook and/or picture video, please notify us within 3 days of receipt and we will do absolutely everything we can to make you a happy Memvio customer.

Baby-to-Grad Program

I’m interested in your baby-to-grad affordable monthly program. My child is 5 can I go back in time to when he/she was first born?

Yes. Once you have established your account by paying your one-time set up fee. Your monthly price is locked in for 18 years of scrapbooking and/or picture videos. At any time throughout your 18 years— you can provide us with photos of previous years (per year) and we will go back and scrapbook and/or scrapbook and produce your picture video for those special years. Cost for birth-year: Scrapbooking Program– $359.88. Scrapbooking & Picture Video Program $539.88, (previous year(s) fees must be paid in full for process to begin). Cost for year two + —same fees and terms would apply.

I’m interested in your baby-to-grad affordable monthly program. My child is 6 can I just move forward and participate in the baby-to-grad program until my child reaches 24 years of age?

Yes, of-course! You can go back in time or further in time. You have 18 years to enjoy your child’s milestones in a very exciting, creative and professional platform.

I’m interested in your baby-to-grad affordable monthly program. My child is 8, can I choose to participate in the baby-to-grad program for the next 10 years (not 18)?

Yes. No problem. We do not have you sign any contract. You can participate for any length of time you choose.

I signed up for your baby-to-grad scrapbooking program for $29.99 monthly— 2 years ago. Can I now add the one-song yearly picture video to my monthly subscription for $44.99 monthly?

Yes, at any time you decide you are interested in adding the picture video program to your scrapbooking package no problem. You can also go back in time if you would like, just let us know your wishes and we’ll be glad to help.

Do I get to choose what photos I want you to scrapbook?

Yes and no. We certainly want you to inform us of what photos are the most memorable and important to you so we can include them. So many people don’t understand the number of pics it takes to design a great— full layout, or that the orientation (wide vs tall) needs variety. Our number one objective is to create for you a one-of-a-kind master piece that you will be so proud to have displayed on your coffee table.

How do I provide you with my photos?

The easiest format is Dropbox. You establish a Dropbox, name a folder “memvio” inside that main memvio folder, create new folders by year. For best results, inside the yearly folders create folders by event i.e.: holidays, vacations, school days, dance, football etc. BE SURE TO SHARE YOUR MEMVIO FOLDER WITH MEMVIO!

How often do you mail us our pages?

At the end of year one we ship to you your custom-made memory box (large enough to hold both 72-page albums) your first album containing your first 8 pages and plastic page covers for an additional 64 pages included. Each year we will ship your new 8 pages. Once the first 72-page album is filled, we will ship the second album.

I’m interested in your baby-to-grad program but I don’t like contracts. If I sign up—am I signing an 18-year contract with memvio?

No, you are on a month-to-month commitment. Memvio, however—- is, somewhat under contract with you, as we are committing to a set price for you for 18 years. Although, you are on a month-to-month commitment, please keep in mind we offer no refunds and if you do not make at least 12 payments—you have not fully paid for any of our baby-to-grad programs and would forfeit previous fees paid, up to and until 12 full monthly fees have been paid.

What if I sign up for your baby-to-grad program for 18 years and memvio ceases to exist sometime before my 18 years are up?

We’ve been professionally creating heirloom scrapbooks and picture videos for over 30 years. We strive for all of our clients to not only be 100% satisfied but in fact thrilled with every custom future heirloom we produce. We acknowledge sometimes the unforeseen does happen— we are quite certain the future of memvio is strong and its future’s longevity, much longer than 18 years. However, with the memvio baby-to-grad program you receive your product(s) yearly meaning you will always receive the product(s) you’ve previously paid for.

Picture Video

***Please refer to the General FAQ’s for most of your questions and answers regarding picture videos.

I have video clips. Can you include them in my Memvio picture video?

Yes! A short “edited” ready for placement— video clip or two can be a nice addition to your Memvio. A few edited ready for placement video clips is an included feature to all of our picture video packages. Video clips needing editing, before placement is charged at $30.00 per half hour.

Others have chosen to have us create an entire modern-age “home video” of mini-video clips from your cell phone— with possibly a few photos here and there.

Then others choose equally— mini-video clips and photos.

You tell us what you want and we’ll create it for you.

I want my Memvio to have background music. How do you get music for my Memvio?

Music is a very important factor in creating the right mood for your Memvio. In fact, we pride ourselves having the ability to choreograph your photos to the music. We take our time to arrange particular photos with certain lyrics and we always make sure the photos are moving to the correct beat of the music. Being a dancer/choreographer has come in very handy with creating the perfect timing of each picture/slide.

For song ideas review our song list here.

Copyright laws regarding music are enforced. Memvio obtains music legally and we require our customers to do the same. Our photo videos are created for private use only. We create them for you with the complete understanding that they are not intended for public presentation, you will not charge a fee for people to view your Memvio and you will not duplicate or use your Memvio for any other purpose other than private use.

If you wish to include music from your music collection we require proof that it has been legally purchased through iTunes (or similar service) or a purchased CD from the artist. We legally cannot use unauthorized, downloaded mp3 files or burned CDs. When we provide your music, we purchase the music specifically for your Memvio. All music that we obtain is included in the quoted price of your Picture Video.

Can I add more pictures to my Memvio at a later time?

If you think it is possible that you will want to add to the same Memvio at a later time. We suggest you have us provide you a “collected show file” flash drive or cloud upload (for an additional fee) of your picture video. If you safe guard the format we should be able to upload your show at a later date and then, add to your show.

Can I burn additional copies of my Memvio?

No. We do incorporate anti-copying technology to prevent duplication of the actual DVD. If you attempt duplicating the original DVD you could damage it. Memvio is not responsible for damaged DVDs. You may order additional DVD copies within 30 days of receipt of your Memvio.

Will I be able to view my Memvio picture video before you ship it?

Yes! We will upload your Memvio picture video to a cloud type portal and email you a password protected link that only you will be able to access. One 30-minute editing and correction session is included in all pricing. More time-consuming edits will be charged at $30.00 per half hour.

How long will my archival DVD last?

The DVD’s we use are high quality, 100-year archival premium DVD-R. These DVD-R discs are one of the most compatible and longest lasting DVD’s available worldwide. The data written on the discs is permanent and compatible with more than 95% of the DVD players on the market.

All DVD recordable discs are extremely sensitive to heat, UV light and humidity. Avoid any abrasive, scratching or etching treatment of the disc’s top and bottom. Even a small scratch can make them unplayable. Treat your recorded DVDs with care.

We do suggest you order at least one extra DVD for safe keeping. Another option is to order a flash drive of your show or have us upload to a “cloud” type option. Additional fees do apply.

I have so many years of old photos. I want to have all of them produced on a picture video. I don’t want to get further behind with my current pictures. It’s overwhelming! Where do I begin?

We hear this frustration often. We suggest starting two programs, if the budget allows. Sign up for the “year-to-year” recurring picture video program so you stay ahead of current and future photos. Then go back to the beginning of your photos and we’ll create a 3-5 song “past times” picture videos. Do this, once or twice a year depending on your budget until we catch up to your recurring “year-to-year” current day photos. By choosing this option— you won’t have that feeling of never being able to catch up to your current photos.

How long will it take for my project to be completed?

The time it takes to complete a project depends on the size of the project and is estimated on a case by case basis. This will be discussed at the start of the project and the due date will be defined at that time. Most 3-7 song picture videos (***with pictures and memorabilia ready and organized) has a turn-around time of 2-12 weeks. All orders are completed on a first-come-first-served basis. Rush orders are accepted.

For double the enjoyment of your photos, when you order a recurring “year-to-year” picture video as well as a recurring “year-to-year” Memvio (scrapbook) your recurring picture video will be completed and sent to you near to or at the same time as your scrapbook — as long as your celebration for each service is the same. All recurring year-to-year services are in celebration of your chosen subject(s) and your chosen yearly due date(s).

You can choose to have a separate celebration and separate yearly due date from your recurring Memvio (picture video) and your recurring scrapbook. Be sure to properly fill out all needed order form(s) and Memvio will help you celebrate any or all of your celebrations.

Do I have to order a recurring year-to-year Memvio scrapbook in order to order a recurring year-to-year Memvio custom picture video?

Absolutely not.

How many photos can fit into my project?

Approximately 40-50 photos per song is properly showcased in a picture video.

I want to order more than one recurring “year-to-year” picture videos for a variety of yearly celebrations. Do I get additional discounts?

We have priced our picture videos about as low as we can, keeping quality, ample embellishments and creativity our #1 priority. However, we do appreciate your continued business. If you commit to 2 or more recurring “year-to year” picture videos in the same time frame, we will provide you with a 10% overall discount.

Will I be able to pre-view my picture video before finalizing?

Yes. When the production of your picture video is complete. You will receive an online pre-view link. You will be able to view the picture video in its entirety as many times as you would like. You can also send the link to others to preview. This allows you to make changes before Memvio produces the final DVD. Please Note: If there are “extensive changes”, after the first preview, additional costs may be incurred. The first pre-view with minor adjustments is included in price—-10 minutes of editing (per song) is included in the cost of all picture video orders. Additional uploaded previews incur a $30.00 fee for preview link, editing services of additional previews are charged $30.00 per half-hour.

You choose the theme, number of pages, approximate photo allowances and we will create unique, amazing layouts. With this option, you keep your original media.

What are occasions that would be great to scrapbook?

Your Memvio scrapbook celebrates your life (all aspects of your life): Birth, Birthday’s, Weddings, Children, Vacations, Anniversaries, Family Reunions, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Holidays, Religious Celebrations, Sports Events, School Events, Art Events, Your Year(s) In Review, Retirement, Memorials —every occasion that is worth taking “that picture” is a scrapbooking occasion!

What is the difference between a custom scrapbook and an old-school photo album?

A custom scrapbook displays your treasured stories, photos, and memorabilia and protects them for many generations to come. We use all archival and photo safe materials when creating memory albums. Many out dated photo albums have been known to deteriorate precious photos and the layout is “old school” boring. Our scrapbooks utilize the amazing embellishments available on the market today—resulting in masterpieces.

I have so many years of old photos. I want to scrapbook all of them. I don’t want to get further behind with my current pictures. It’s overwhelming! Where do I begin?

We hear this frustration often. We suggest starting two programs, if the budget allows. Sign up for the “year-to-year” recurring albums so you stay ahead of current and future photos. Then go back to the beginning of your photos and we’ll create a 30 page “past times” album. Do this, once or twice a year depending on your budget until we catch up to your recurring “year-to-year” current day photos. By choosing this option— you won’t have that feeling of never being able to catch up to your current photos.

What does archival-safe, photo-safe, acid, and lignin free mean?

Memvio is committed to preserving your memories long term. We use all archival and photo safe materials when creating memory albums.  Archival safe and photo safe means the items are free from chemicals that speed the deterioration process.  This means that all items are free from acid, lignin, and PVC.  Materials like newspaper clippings, ticket stubs, greeting cards and other wood-based products, sometimes are not safe to be near your photos or even in the same page protector. Non-archival materials can emit a chemical compound that could speed up the deterioration process. With these items, we will use a de-acidification process to assure proper preservation.

PVC free: PVC is used in plastics such as the clear protector in photo albums.  PVC releases chloride over time which speeds the deterioration of photographs.  Memvio archival scrapbooks, are 100% PVC free.

I have acidic items that I want to include in my scrapbook, what should I do?

Many mementos such as newspaper articles, handwritten notes, and other paper goods were not created with acid free materials.  If the original is desired, we will use a de-acidification spray to neutralize the acid and help with proper preservation. Another option is to make a copy of the item onto archival safe paper

Is it harmful to my old pictures keeping them in my old-school magnetic photo album?

Yes, the adhesive in magnetic albums contains acid which is known to speed up the deterioration of precious photos and memorabilia. The papers and plastics used, often contain other harmful items such as lignin and PVC. We recommend carefully removing your pictures from these old-school albums and replacing into archival safe albums for long term future generation preservation. We do offer this service, for $30.00 per half hour. Please visit our pricing page for more information.

What is journaling? How do I include narrative?

Journaling is storytelling. Imagine sitting next to someone looking through your album. What would you tell them about a particular important picture that isn’t self-explanatory? Write it down so you don’t have to tell the story every time. Journaling can be a description of the photo, a story about the photo, describing your feelings in relation to the photo, or all of the above.

We encourage handwritten journaling done “by you”, I love having my mother’s beautiful hand-written notes, they are so very cherished. We can leave occasional journal cards strategically placed for you to journal after you receive your scrapbook (album) or we will do a limited number of computerized journaling for you if you prefer. We don’t believe in “over-doing” journaling. An occasional story or mention of a particular person or event adds prosperity. In our opinion however, too much journaling detracts from the overall enjoyment of your album.

It is best to provide your narratives with the initial order form.

How long will it take for my project to be completed?

The time it takes to complete a project depends on the size of the project and is estimated on a case by case basis. This will be discussed at the start of the project and the due date will be defined at that time. Most 30 page 12”x12” custom scrapbooks (***with pictures and memorabilia ready and organized) has a turn-around time of 2-12 weeks. All orders are completed on a first-come-first-served basis. Rush orders are accepted.

For double the enjoyment of your photos, when you order a recurring “year-to-year” scrapbook as well as a recurring “year-to-year” Memvio (picture video) your recurring scrapbooks will be completed and sent to you near to or at the same time as your picture video — as long as your celebration for each service is the same.

Do I have to order a recurring year-to-year Memvio picture video in order to order a recurring year-to-year Memvio custom scrapbook?

Absolutely not.

Will I have the opportunity to view any pages of my scrapbook before finalizing?

Yes. As your scrapbook pages are being created, you will receive an email containing images of layout designs for the first few pages to make sure we are on the same page. You can request all scrapbook pages 2-6 at a time be emailed to you for continued approval. If you choose this option you will have 48 hours to respond, with your approval or suggestion for any change(s). If you do not respond within 48 hours, Memvio will assume your approval and continue creating pages according to the proposed layout design. Most clients choose to not have every page emailed and approved for the surprise factor upon receiving the scrapbook/album in the mail. Please specify your preference in this matter.

How many photos can fit into my project?

The number of photos used for a project is dependent on the size of the project.  An average 12”×12” page: uses 1-5 (4×6) photos. However, some layouts can have 20+ cropped photos to give it a great unique look and at the same time, some layouts can have one enlarged amazing photo.

FYI: It is best to provide numerous (8-15) photos of each special event, ie: Christmas, birthday, first day of school etc.. when scrapbooking. Scrapbooking looks best when both side by side (12”x12”)–pages coordinate with each other. The more photo options for layout creation often times produces amazing layouts.

Can I order just one scrapbook page? Do you have a maximum number of pages we can order?

No. We do not take an order as small as one page.

Memvio does not have a maximum number of pages you can order. We do suggest working with certain periods of pictures at one time. For example, if you have 50 years of pictures you are interested in scrapbooking. We suggest, first organizing your media. We can do this for you (we charge $30 per half hour—we are experienced media organizers and can get a lot accomplished in 30 minutes) or you can organize your media yourself and then provide to us. If your media is not digitized, we suggest you digitize at least your most special/important photos/media for safe-keeping. We can do this for you at a per photo, negative or slide scanning fee, or you can do this yourself and then provide your media.

Once your pictures are organized and backed-up. Then we break up timelines into categories. We then take approximately 75-150 (approximately 15 “events”) pictures from a particular timeline (which roughly creates 30 scrapbooked “12×12” pages), and we scrapbook them! Starting with the earliest available timeline where your pictures begin is advised. Then, according to your budget and completion schedule we add picture timelines of approximately 75-150 pictures at a time and continue the album 30 pages at a time.

How much can I be involved in the scrapbooking? Can I choose the layout? Can I choose what pictures go on what page?

When it comes to scrapbooking, your pictures will get our creative energy flowing. You hired us for a reason, allow us the freedom to be as creative as possible, while keeping to your budget and understanding the need of fitting a “minimum & maximum” number of pictures per page (album).

If you do “really” want to work hand-in-hand with one of our professional scrap booker’s —YES, you can (if you are local) @ $90.00 per hour + album costs— as he/she creates your pages with you as the co-director.

Another option to consider —if you want to be able to decide what picture goes where, we suggest ordering a Memvio pre-made scrapbook. This option offers pre-made pages without your photos, memorabilia or journaling. With a pre-made album you add your photos, memorabilia and journaling into the space provided. You choose the theme, number of pages, approximate photo allowances and we will create unique, amazing layouts. With this option, you keep your original media.

We can email you a picture of a few pages when we begin working on your album to make sure you are pleased with the direction we are going before we continue and complete your album.

Can I add other memorabilia in my scrapbook besides pictures?

Yes! Absolutely. Provide us with items you are wishing to include in your scrapbook and we’ll do the best we can to incorporate it in our layouts. Be sure to properly fill out the order form section regarding memorabilia.

Suggested memorabilia: invitations, printed napkins, tickets, menus, personal letters or notes, newspaper articles etc. Pretty much, if its printed it can be added. Even if it’s not printed we might be able to add it. Like little pockets for baby’s teeth or first haircut clippings. Wedding garters and some of the bouquet etc…

Do you have to crop my photos and/or use permanent adhesive?

For creativity, layout purposes and to be able to utilize a few more pics, it is recommended that we have the freedom to crop, adjust or cover part of some of your photos. If there are particular pictures that you DO NOT want altered, please advise us to which ones and we will be sure to preserve its original size.

We do not need to use permanent adhesives, although we recommend we do. If for some reason, you are not wanting permanent adhesives applied we can discuss alternative ways of adhering your photos to your album. There would be additional fees associated to this service and we would not be able to guarantee items would remain in their intended location.

What about photo reprinting or enlargements?

Based on the design of each page, we will determine whether it would enhance the overall look by enlarging a few prints (we normally do suggest an enlargement at least once per 30 pages). Should we suggest that a larger size photo be recommended for the design, or should reprint of a photo be needed, we will contact you for approval before incurring any additional costs. A final invoice with all approved additional fees will be submitted and needs to be paid prior to album delivery.

What if you create a full 30 (+)-page album for me and I find more photos that I want to add to the album? Can you add to my scrapbook after you’ve completed the project?

Yes. We can add pages to your already completed scrapbook (album). It is NOT recommended that we disrupt previous created pages to insert particular photos in particular places but alternatively we can create additional pages for your scrapbook (album). It would be important to have enough photos to create a 2-page; 12”x12” side-by-side layout for easy placement of pages within your album. Make sure your scrapbook (album) has not reached its “maximum” limit in number of pages. Your scrapbook (album), which most are similar to binders, usually come apart easily making it simple to add your new pages after we create them.

Please note: There will be a per page upcharge for creating additional “individual” album pages’ after fulfillment of project vs ordering additional pages at a discounted per page savings during the original project creation.

What is included in the cost of the project?

All scrapbook supplies, embellishments and labor costs are included.  With the following exceptions:

Beautiful albums are included in most cases, however if you are wanting a more specialized, specific, unique album then what we provide, you would need to provide us with the album of your choice.

For all 100+ page scrapbooking orders, a beautiful wooden custom-made (from Craig Moodie Designs, woodworking professionals) memory box is included (a $149.99 value, you can also upgrade to a beautiful “red cedar” custom memory box for only $79.99). All other sized scrapbook orders have the option of purchasing a personalized beautiful custom made memory box as well).

Shipping and handling is additional.

If you need prints created, a printing fee of (.35 per 4×6 print) will apply. Additional fees apply for enlargements. Please see photo printing pricing under our “other services” page.

If you are in need of photo correction/damage repair. Please visit our “other services” page. for more information.

Each scrapbooking package includes 60 minutes of photo organizational time per 30 pages (or 2 minutes per page ordered). Additional organizational time is $30.00 per half-hour.

What is a page? What is a layout?

A single page is considered one 12”×12” size scrapbook page. Two pages are back to back in a 1-page protector. For a 30-page album, there would be 15- page protectors holding 30 pages. A 2-page layout is two, side by side pages that are normally coordinated together. They are intended to share the same theme, event and their materials match. 2-page layouts are great when you have several photos for a single event. This creates a nice book feel when each left and right page in the scrapbook (album) complement each other.

Can you replicate more than one of my scrapbook (album)s? I know both sets of grandparents will want a copy of my baby’s albums.

Yes! It more than likely wouldn’t be an “exact” replica but if we know in advance that you want more than one of the same scrapbook we can do that. Often our clients want two or more of the same album for a variety of reasons. We do have a 3-of-a-kind scrapbooking program offering 15% off your order total, this program was especially created for new parents and both sets of grandparents. Please visit our pricing page for more information.

I’m interested in smaller month-to-month albums created for my precious babies first year of life and then I would like to begin your recurring “year-to-year” scrapbook (album) through high school graduation. Do you offer this service?

Yes! You have options. Most recurring year-to-year clients choose 30-page yearly albums— giving 2 “layouts” (4 12”x12” pages) per month and 3 “layouts” (6 12”x12” pages) available for special occasions such as holidays and birthday in addition to the 2–layout monthly allowance.

If you like taking a lot of pictures—many of our customers have chosen a 100- page scrapbook (album) for a baby’s first year and then a recurring year-to-year 30 or 60-page scrapbook for each additional years.

I want to order more than one recurring “year-to-year” scrapbook (album) for a variety of yearly celebrations. Do I get additional discounts?

We have priced our scrapbooks (albums) about as low as we can, keeping quality, ample embellishments and creativity our #1 priority. However, we do appreciate your continued business. If you commit to 2 or more recurring “year-to year” scrapbooks (albums) in the same time frame, we will provide you with a 10% overall discount.

Digitization Services

What is the typical turnaround time for image scanning?

The time it takes to process your image scanning order depends on the number of images being transferred. Typically, you can expect 2-4 weeks for a standard order.

What is the best way to view my slides prior to having them digitized?

There are a number of ways to view your slides. There are inexpensive “slide viewers” on the market. You would put each slide into a device that will magnify it. “Light Boxes” are another option. A light box is a box with light coming out of the top. You can lay out your slides on the top of the box to view them more easily.

How many slides/photos/negatives can fit on one data DVD?

This depends on many factors including the file format, resolution, magnification, color bit depth, etc. For basic transfers, a DVD will hold about 900 slides or negatives and 2000 photos.

Will you touch-up my images when you transfer them?

Yes. We have a manual color correction for images that have faded over time.

What type of photos can you scan?

We can scan all photo sizes up to 12.2 x 17.2.

What types of slides can you scan?

We scan 35mm, 110, 120, 220, 126 and 127mm slide formats.

What types of negatives can you scan?

We scan 35mm, APS, 110, 120, 220, 126 and 127mm, and disc film negative formats

***Please refer to the General FAQ’s for most of your questions and answers regarding Memvio’s programs.

How often can I or should I upload pictures to my Memvio Dropbox Account?

It’s important that when you take what you consider a “great” picture or set of pictures, that you upload them ASAP, so you don’t forget to do it. You are welcome to upload as often as you like and in fact we encourage it. When you upload a picture on social media, take those extra seconds and upload to your Memvio Dropbox Account as well— for safe keeping.

Keep in mind, it is good to provide us with ample (extra) pictures for us to choose from to create your Memvio. Sometimes a scrapbook layout and/or a slide– we create uses one image, other times we use up to 20+ images. The old saying; “the more the merrier” fits in the Memvio world. Give us options! We also suggest letting us know, out of all the pictures, which ones are “must use”, the– “most special” and why, (provide us with just a little note or caption so we are aware of the significance of a handful of particular pictures and who the special people are in a particular photo.

For scrapbooking, we advise continuously uploading your “current” photos, the same as you would for picture video production to your Memvio Dropbox Account (or similar cloud program). When it’s time for scrapbooking production —have them printed.

Does Memvio only use digital photos for the “Recurring Year-To-Year” picture videos?

Yes! The pricing and program for the “Recurring Year-To-Year” Memvio’s is based on organized, in chronological order (or other organizational format chosen) —digital photos. We will accept printed photos– however; additional scanning fees apply (please see scanning services under “other services”). Please note: If you follow our very simple uploading your pictures, directions there should be no additional organizational fees. All packages include a yearly 30-minute per song —picture organizational service. Additional organizational time is charged at $30.00 per half-hour.

Does Memvio only use printed photos for the “Recurring Year-To-Year” scrapbooks?

Yes! The pricing and program for the “Recurring Year-To-Year” Memvio scrapbooks is based on printed, organized photos (in chronological order or other organized format chosen). We can use your digital photos however; additional printing fees apply (please see printing services under “other services”). Please note: If you follow our very simple uploading and organizing your photos, directions there should be no additional organizational fees accumulated. All packages include a yearly 60-minute per 30-page scrapbook (or 2 minutes per page) —picture organizational service. Additional organizational time is charged at $30.00 per half-hour.

Do I have to pay Memvio to sort through my digital uploaded photos in my Memvio Dropbox Account?

The answer is no but, possibly yes. Bottom line: if we need to spend more than 30 minutes per song or 60 minutes per 30 scrapbooked pages (or 2 minutes per page), organizing your photos—you will be charged $30.00 per half-hour for this service.

If you have named, numbered, put in your chosen organizational format and placed photos into appropriate folders, there should not be organizational fees applied.

(ie: Subject being a wedding for example).
  • Folder names should be: Ceremony, Bridal Party, Groomsmen, Reception etc..,
  • Photos should be re-named: (i.e., ceremony001, ceremony002, bridal party 001, bridal party 002, bridal party 003, etc..,).
  • There must be “a reasonable number of pictures”. Although we do ask for an ample number of pictures— it is unacceptable to upload thousands of unorganized photos and expect our staff to sort through and organize them with no additional fees. If and when we access your Memvio Dropbox Account and we need to charge additional fees for organization we will contact you prior to moving forward and give you your options.
What if I want to order a “Recurring Year-To-Year” Memvio, but I know that I have no time or interest in sorting, organizing, numbering and naming my photos and folders? I don’t even have time to upload the photos to my Memvio Dropbox Account. Does Memvio offer this service?

Yes! We charge $30.00 per half hour. You can provide us with usernames and passwords to access your photos within your social media, cloud and/or hard drives (your passwords are very protected and only provided to Memvio management). Your technician will search for all appropriate photos to coincide/match your Memvio subject/celebration. Another option is to mail us a flash drive with your images and we’ll upload, sort, organize (and print, for scrapbooking). Or, you can upload all of your photos to your Memvio Dropbox Account with no rhyme or reason and we’ll sort through, organize, number and name them to prepare for production. Yearly, 30 minutes per song, or 60 minutes per 30 scrapbooked pages (or 2 minutes per page) of organizing your photos is included in the cost of your recurring Memvio.

To recap: No Time? No Problem! Memvio will do everything. All you have to do is sign up, take the pictures and allow us access to your photos. Memvio will do the rest. Or you can do minimal work by following the very simple instructions on organizing your photos.

What if I change my mind and want my “Recurring Year-To-Year” Memvio celebration “subject” to change? For example; I sign up for an Anniversary Memvio, but eventually I want to change to celebrate our Family Vacations?

No problem! Just let us know and we can get the proper “Change of Subject” form to you.

What if I change my mind and do not want to continue with the recurring Memvio’s?

We will be very sad to lose you, but we understand circumstances do change through time. We will hope to resume your business at a later date. Please understand, if production has begun for your current, expected Memvio—there will be no refunds on pre-paid monthly installments and your yearly account will need to be paid in full, in order for Memvio to complete your “current year” Memvio. If production has not begun at the time of cancellation—you will receive a 40% refund of funds previously paid for that current, upcoming Memvio.

Life Story: Ancestry, Memorial, Life Story

***Please refer to the General FAQ’s for most of your questions and answers regarding Memvio’s programs.

I have boxes and boxes of old pictures, slides, negatives, film and video. How do I go about getting it all to you so you can create a Memvio “Life Story”?

Option #1: I have no time, please do everything!

In our opinion, your precious, irreplaceable media will be as safe as possible during shipment with your kübox. Also, your kübox can serve as a forever “safe home” for your returned original media.

After filling your “kübox” ship it back to us—insured and with tracking information to the following address:

Memvio
14532 Manchester Rd
Winchester, MO 63011

“kübox” sizes and pricing

Another option is for you to find a box (non-crushing strength is advised) pack your media safely and send to us at the above address. Please send all materials using a tracking number and insured. We only accept packages that require signatures. This is for your peace of mind and ours.

If you have requested rush service, be sure you’ve scheduled your “spot” in our queue and send overnight.

We charge $30.00 per half hour to sort through it all. The average time spent sorting through boxes of material is between 2-8 hours (anticipation of more than 6 hours will warrant a phone call prior to proceeding). We will then determine what we have to work with, contact you with a timeline, develop a plan on how you want to move forward, (i.e.: custom scrapbooking, picture video production, digitization or all of the above) and then we’ll provide you with an estimate including video anticipated length and number of songs, and/or the number of recommended scrapbook pages or layouts to best showcase your photos.

Once we have a plan in place the balance of your original deposit will be credited towards the —new, 60% required deposit for all custom orders. If a partial credit of your initial deposit is owed due to plan pricing equaling less than original deposit –we will credit amount owed back to your original payment method.

We work with minimal information from you due to your time constraints and/or we’ll work with pages and pages of details and stories you have accumulated.

After preparing all media for production, Memvio charges according to how many songs your Memvio picture video utilizes (30-90 photos per song) and/or how many pages/layouts we’ll be scrapbooking for you (1-20 photos per layout). We do not produce average, boring quick in and out slides (videos) or scrapbooked layouts. The difference in the number of photos used per slide/song/video or page/layout/album is based on “our creativity” and how we feel is the best way to showcase a particular photo—and/or all of your photos as a whole.

Please watch one of our picture video demos and/or one of our scrapbooking video demos.  Please read our testimonial section to see what other customers have said about our work so you fully understand the difference between us and our competition.

We will work with minimal information from you due to your time constraints. Telling your story and making your Memvio “Life Story” / “Ancestry” / “Memorial Life Story” everything you envision is what is important to us. We are actually very good at being able to put story lines together without a ton of information (needless to say, the more info you do provide, the more opportunity for truly special segments).

We will ask you to provide us with some basic guidance/guidelines and then we will use our creativity and experience to create your Memvio “Life Story”. An average true “Life Story” is 10 songs minimum—- most end up being 18-20 songs and the length of your story usually lasts approximately one hour.

**Keep in mind, this isn’t just a birthday or anniversary photo video, this is your life (or a loved one’s life story), from birth (or even before, including past generations) through today.

We will return all original photos after — digitizing and/or scrapbooking—in the same kübox — protective non-crushing media box it arrived in— for safe keeping.

For all Memvio programs—-a 60% deposit is required at all times for each step along the way. When and if your deposit is depleted, we will call for additional deposit funds to move forward to the next phase.

Option #1 recap: All of your unorganized pictures, slides, negatives, film & video— modernized, digitized, transferred or scrapbooked. A DVD with all of your digitized material created and sent to you for safe keeping.

An amazing production of a “one-of-a-kind” Memvio (picture video) “Life Story/Ancestry/Memorial” and/or your cherished old photos, negatives and slides professionally scrapbooked for everyday hands-on enjoyment. All of this with minimal amount of customer time is necessary.

Option #2: You have the time. You want to be hands on. You want to save as much money as you can.

OK! Great. Digitize and organize as much of your materials as you can yourself. Most current (newer) printers have decent scanning capabilities. They aren’t the quality of our Digital Ice high dpi input scanning capability, but they are pretty good. The scanning should be done at a minimum resolution of 300dpi. 600 dpi is optimal for both picture video and scrapbooking purposes.

If you are sending digital pictures that you saved directly from a digital camera, they should be great! If you downloaded your pictures from a website or if your pictures have been taken using a mobile phone, please verify that they are reasonably large file sized for big screen clarity.

Often with pictures from your phone and on social media—clients have “cropped” an original photo for uploading purposes, we will need the original sized photo for both printing purposes for scrapbooking and for proper placement possibilities for picture videos if available to you.

The materials you are not able to digitize yourself such as old slides and film, but you do want included in the picture video, just digitized or digitized and then printed for scrapbooking–mail to us and we will digitize and transfer to a modern format, we will upload onto a DVD and send to you for safe keeping. We will then proceed forward with your Memvio order. Your level of involvement in this process is entirely up to you. Some customers want to be very involved in the details—that’s perfect, organize your photos.

You also have the option of being a “co-director” with one of our creative editors. Please note: Your very involved input would slow our editor down in the creation of your Memvio consequently there is an $80.00 per hour (that you spend with an editor) in addition to our per song cost.

Another GREAT option telling your “Life Story” is having a Live Interview— (an oral video biography, an oral legacy video, an oral video memoir). How amazing it is telling personal stories and family history. Showing emotions ranging from, laughter-tears, sentimental-celebrative. What a great gift to be passed down for many generations to come.  Call to discuss pricing

How long will it take to complete our “Life Story?”

Often, “Life Story’s” are extremely involved with a huge amount of unorganized, outdated material. Organizing and converting your material often takes more time than the actual producing of your Memvio. Although it is hard to give you an upfront timeline before we see what we will be dealing with, we can say the sorting and organizing of your material is usually completed within 8-14 days once your project reaches the top of the queue.

The standard turnaround times for converting your media ranges from 1 to 8 weeks depending on the type and quantity of media you need converted. Production of the actual Memvio takes between 1-30 weeks, once again depending on the enormity and ease of the project (scrapbooking, often takes a bit longer than picture videos). We custom create and complete each order in a timely, “first come-first served” manner and we always have the highest regard for quality first. Quality, customized Memvio’s do take time. But, always prove to be “worth the wait”.

Rush Service is available for every type of order for a 30% upcharge of the cost of your order. For holiday rush orders and orders that need to be completed within 72 hours the cost requires a 50% upcharge of the cost of your order. For rush orders, we will move your order to the front of the queue and stay after hours to complete. Rush order slots are limited, please call for availability.

Short Themed One Time Photo Videos

***Please refer to the General FAQ’s for most of your questions and answers regarding Memvio’s programs.

Video Tape, Film & Audio Transfer Services

Video Transfer

How many hours of video can go onto one DVD?

Two hours and four minutes of video will fit onto one DVD

If my movies are transferred to DVD can I edit them on my home computer?

No, unless you are an advanced computer user, but it is not advised. The main reason is that you would be working with highly compressed video.

If you transfer the data from the DVD to the computer for editing, the quality is not the same as that of the originally uncompressed video used to create the DVD. It also takes a lot of processing power to edit the compressed video, and although you can fix this problem by converting it to a less compressed video format (such as AVI), you will still see a quality loss. Also, when you re-render that video that has previously been on a DVD it will re-compress again and you will notice more than a little loss of detail.

What if I want to review each of my tapes before giving them to you to transfer?

At this time, we do not rent out our machines for customer to view their tapes. Our insurance does not cover public deck access of our expensive equipment. We do ask a series of questions which usually negates the need for customer viewing.

Can you combine multiple video tapes onto one DVD, and does it cost extra?

Yes, we can combine multiple tapes onto one DVD and there is no difference in price for this service. Remember that: a maximum of 2 hours will fit on one DVD, so if your tapes average one hour or more it would not be possible to combine. Also, if you don’t know the exact timeline of your tapes, it is best not to combine tapes because it gets confusing when the material on one DVD skips around in years.

What if I would like some editing done on my video tapes?

No problem. We can transfer your videos onto an external hard drive that will allow for editing.

Can you enhance the picture of my video tapes?

Yes, older video tapes can be transferred through a color corrector. We can adjust full RGB, brightness, contrast, sharpness, tint, etc.

What types of video tapes can you transfer?

We can transfer VHS, VHS-C, Hi8, 8mm, Video8, Digital8, MiniDV, HDV, MiniDVD, MicroMV.

Film Transfer

When transferring movies, what frame rate(s) do you use?

We use 15, 18, and 24 frames per second for capturing. The rate is determined by the type of film (regular 8, super 8, 16mm, 16mm with sound). We capture directly into a computer so it is perfectly synchronized.

How many feet of film can fit onto one DVD?

Regular 8” fits 1620 feet. “Super 8 can fit 1800 feet. 16mm film with sound fits 4300 feet. 16mm without sound fits 2700 ft.

Can you add background music to my order?

Yes, we can add royalty free music or we can purchase music from iTunes for you.

Can you transfer film with sound?

Yes. In fact, we are one of the few companies anywhere than can transfer film with sound flicker-free. Most companies do not transfer the sound that comes with the film, and the few that do may do it, but with a flicker (flicker is not good).

Do you enhance the color of my movies?

Yes. Every step in the process of film transfer helps to enhance the final images. Cleaning the film will help with getting most of the dust and other particles out of the way. Our premium level of film transfer is in our opinion unbeatable for adjusting brightness and color balancing.

What if my film smells like vinegar or has a white powder on it?

This is common symptom of older film. Even if your film smells awful, most of the time it can still be transferred. If your film has curled over and smells like vinegar then there is a chance that the images are unrecoverable without scanning each frame individually. Send it in and we’ll see what we can do.

How is my film cleaned?

The film is cleaned while rotated onto a secondary reel. Different cleaning methods are used depending on the type of film and the condition it is in. We also check for breaks or bad splices at this time. Repairs are made and there is no additional cost for this. Film may be spliced onto 400 reels in the order you specify. The cleaning process is something that takes about the same amount of time as the actual transferring and why we generally ask for 6 weeks to complete your order.

How do I know how many feet of film I have?

Usually a 3–diameter reel holds about 50 ft. A 5– reel holds 200 ft. A 7– reel holds 400 ft. If you have a box of film that reads 25 ft., it may actually contain 50ft. This type of film was recorded on 2 sides and then split during the processing.

Audio Transfer

What type of audio media can you transfer?

We can transfer 33s, 45s, 78s, audio cassette, microcassette, ¼- inch reel to reel recorded at 1- 7/8 inches per second (IPS), 3 3/4 IPS, 7 1/2 IPS, 15 IPS, 30 IPS, and also audio from any of the video formats we transfer.

Do I get my media back when you are done?

Yes, you receive everything you left with us back when you pick up your order.

Why transfer your treasured audio recordings to CD?

The short answer? Usability and preservation. After you digitize your media, you can easily load it into your computer, your iPod/MP3 player, use it in editing projects, etc. You also stop the continual degradation of your media.

What is your process for audio transfers?

We use our high- quality equipment to transfer your media to our computers, where we can turn it into an audio CD, MP3 CD, do restoration work, or send it over to our editing department if you plan on using it for a slideshow.

Can you fix a skipping record?

Yes. Keep in mind though, a skipping record is due to warping or scratches, and depending on the severity of the warp or scratch, removing it entirely and have it blend unnoticeable into the recording may not be possible. If the scratch is very deep, the audio signal is simply not there anymore, and there will be noticeable gaps as the recording progresses. In these cases, we recommend looking for another copy that is better quality (which may be cheaper after all is said and done to transfer). This service is performed on “edit time” 1/2 hourly rate of $40.

Can you fix a broken tape?

Yes, we can fix broken tapes for $40. This charge is ONLY charged if you request a repair, and even then, only if we can successfully transfer the media afterwards. This charge covers opening up the cassette casing, splicing 1-3 broken pieces, and putting it into a new casing if necessary. If the repair requires more complex or detailed work than that described previously, we’ll be happy to give an estimate before any work is done or charged.

Do you respect my privacy?

Yes! Our customer’s privacy is important to us, so we normally only review the recordings for quality and track separation, if required. If you are nervous about sensitive information, let us know and we can even go so far as do the transfer without ever even hearing the audio.

How long will this process take?

Due to so many orders—we ask for 4-6 weeks for completion. If you need rushed services, we charge a 30% rushed service charge. Call for availability.

Blue-Ray Transfer

What is Blu-ray?

Blu-ray Disc (BD) often referred to as just “Blu-ray” is the name of the new format designed to replace DVD. The format was developed primarily for the new high-definition media revolution, as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers as much as 5X the storage capacity of traditional DVDs, it can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.

Why the name Blu-ray?

The name Blu-ray stems from the technology involved in the process of writing the information to the disc. The laser used to write the information to the disc is blue-violet. The name is a combination of “Blue” (blue-violet laser) and “Ray” (optical ray). According to the Blu-ray Disc Association the spelling of “Blu-ray” is not a mistake, the character “e” was intentionally left out so the term could be registered as a trademark.

The correct full name is “Blu-ray Disc” (not Disk) The shortened name is Blu-ray, not Blu-Ray (incorrect capitalization) or Blue-rey (incorrect spelling) The correct abbreviation is BD or BD-R for writeable discs or BD-RE for re-writable discs

How much data can you fit on a Blu-ray disc?

A single-layer disc can hold 25GB. A dual-layer disc can hold 50GB.

We currently only offer single-layer 25GB.

How much video can you fit on a Blu-ray disc?

Specific times may vary depending on bit rates, but on average: Over 2 hours of high-definition (HD) video on a 25GB disc. About 11 hours of standard-definition (SD) video on a 25GB disc.

Will Blu-ray replace DVDs?

Eventually, yes. Many movie studios are releasing their films in high-definition on Blu-ray disc. DVDs will still be around for a long time, our DVD’s are 100 year archival so they will be around even longer! When HDTVs become more widespread Blu-ray will be the main format.

Will my Blu-ray player work with Memvio Blu-ray discs?

The Blu-ray discs we produce here are BD-R, most new players support the BD-R disc type.

Will Blu-ray players be backwards compatible with DVD?

Yes, several leading consumer electronics companies have created products that can play CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs using a BD/DVD/CD compatible optical head, so if you have any of these formats they will play on “most” players. In fact, most of the Blu-ray players coming out will support up-scaling of DVDs to 1080p/1080i, so your existing DVD collection will look even better. While it’s up to each manufacturer to decide if they want to make their products backwards compatible with DVD, the format is far too popular to not be supported. The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) expects every Blu-ray Disc device to be backward compatible with DVDs. Why should I upgrade from DVD to Blu-ray?

The simple answer is High-Definition. If you’ve ever seen high-definition (HD) video on an HDTV, then you know just how incredibly sharp the picture is and how vivid the colors are. In fact, High-Def offers 5X times the amount of detail compared to standard-definition (SD) video. The problem with DVDs is that they only support Standard-Definition and don’t have the necessary storage capacity or data transfer rate to satisfy the needs of HD. That’s where Blu-ray comes in, it offers up to 50GB of storage capacity and enables playback, recording and rewriting of Hight-Definition video for all of the HD resolutions up to 1080p. Blu-ray also supports high-definition audio formats and lossless audio.
